Articles define a noun as particular or non particular
Eg, I read the book,” it means a specific book.
I read a book,” it means any book
the( definite article) uses:-
1 particular nouns
Eg, i read the book,
2 superlative adjective:
E.g He is the tallest boy in the class.
3 Use the article the when a particular noun has already been mentioned previously.
E.gI ate an apple yesterday. The apple was juicy and delicious.
4 holy books
Examples are: the Quran, The bible etc
5. newspapers
The times of India
The Srinagar times etc
6. imaginary geographical lines
Examples are: The equator; the Tropic of Cancer; etc
7.geographical features, such as mountain ranges, groups of islands, rivers, seas, oceans and canals:
the Himalayas , the Atlantic (Ocean), the Amazon etc
Omission of the Article
We donot use article the before abstract nouns, uncountable nouns, and proper nouns in some cases
Before Abstract/Uncountable Nouns
Honesty is the best policy
(not the honesty)
She does not add sugar to her coffee. (Sugar is an uncountable noun. So it will not be the/a sugar)
Before names
. (proper nouns) of people, places, countries, things etc.
Shifayat is a good boy
(not The shifayat).
He visit to London (Not the/a London)
India is the largest democracy in the world. (Not the India)
French is a tough language to master
Dinner will be served shortly
I was never very good at Maths
We do not use articles in front of seasons, festivals, names of days, and months.
She will reach on Sunday.
Summer is the best season for swimming.
Eid is celebrated in December.
Before Nouns used in the Broadest Sense
When common nouns are used in a very broad sense then we can omit the articles before them. Some examples of this are as follows.
Man is a social animal. (Man is a common noun, but here it is used in the commonest sense)
Metal is very important for progress. (Metal is a common noun, but the use of it does in the sentence merits omission of the article)

The definite article with names
We do not normally use the definite article with names:
William Shakespeare wrote Hamlet.
Paris is the capital of France.
Iran is in Asia.
But we do use the definite article with:
countries whose names include words like kingdom, states or republic:
the United Kingdom the Kingdom of Bhutan
the United States the People’s Republic of China
countries which have plural nouns as their names:
the Netherlands the Philippines
geographical features, such as mountain ranges, groups of islands, rivers, seas, oceans and canals:
the Himalayas the Canaries the Atlantic (Ocean) the Amazon the Panama Canal
newspapers:
The Times The Washington Post
well-known buildings or works of art:
the Empire State Building the Taj Mahal the
a/an = indefinite article
a/an is used to refer non-specific or non-particular nouns. .
A/An are used before singular countable nouns when they are indefinite and introduced for the first time.

This is a chair.
If an adjective qualifies the noun, the ‘articles’ comes before the ‘adjective’.
(Example): She is an excellent student.
If an ‘adverb’ qualifies the ‘adjective’ qualifying ‘noun’, the ‘article’ comes before the ‘adverb’.
(Example): She is a very excellent student
An is used only before vowel sounds..
He is an MLA/MP
He lodged an FIR.
He is an IAS officer.
I have an e-ray machine.
I have been waiting for an hour.
He is an SDO.
She is an LLB.
DON’T USE ARTICLE
It should not be used with a plural noun.
(Example):
A boys have come. (Wrong) remove ‘a’
Boys have come (Right)
The boys have come(Right)
A/An is not used with uncountable noun.

Advice, Accommodation, Baggage, Luggage, News, permission, progress, scenery, weather, Traffic, Knowledge, Music, Wine, Equipment, Information, Poetry, Furniture, Hair, Business, Mischief, Bread, Stationery, Crockery, Postage, Wastage, Money, Jewellery, Breakage, Work, Evidence.
(Example):
He gave me an advice (remove ‘an’)
I will buy a furniture today. (remove ‘a’)
My favourite teacher
Teachers are the world.They teaches us different things of the world.They change our life They pull out students from the darkness of ignorance into the knowledge of light .Also the teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions. they provide a nation with doctors , engineers scientists , officers etc. they play an important role in our successful life . Every student in his life is impressed by a teacher . I also get impressed by a great teacher whose name is Mr zahoor sir.
Mr.Zahoor sir is my favourite teacher .He teaches us science. I love his way of teaching.He has a great art of teaching .He delivers his lecture in such a way that we grasp it easily. A tough topic becomes easy to understand after listening his lecture. He gives additional information about a topic . He had a great knowledge of his subject.
Mr.zahoor sir is dutiful and dedicated teacher . He performs his responsibilies very well.He also listens the problems of the students and tries to solve them . Due to his friendly approach every student likes him.He is very sober and has a great sense of humour.
Mr zahoor sir has all the favourite teacher qualities, and everyone loves him. I am lucky to be his student and I will always remember him
